萧公权（Kung-chuan Hsiao，1897-1981）现代著名政治学家。字恭甫，号迹园，笔名巴人、石沤、君衡。江西省泰和人，幼年就读于私塾。1915年入上海中国基督教青年会中学学习。1918年考入清华学校高等科。五四运动中曾参与创办《民钟日报》。1920年赴美留学，先后就读于密苏里大学、康奈尔大学，主修政治哲学，1926年获康奈尔大学博士学位。1926年回国后至1948年，历任或兼任南方、国民、南开、东北、燕京、清华、北京、四川等大学教授，讲授中外政治思想史等课程。是“中央研究院”首届院士。1948年秋赴台，任台湾大学教授。1949年9月离台赴美，任华盛顿大学远东和苏联研究所客座教授，直到1968年退休。著述甚丰，除本书外，还有《政治多元论》、《中国政治思想史》、《中国乡村：十九世纪的帝国控制》等，现已编成《萧公权全集》。其学术路向是，立足近...(展开全部)
